Later in life, Mike made to art school in London and achieved a level of excellence during his first year. His early influences came from his love for American Civil War drawings with typically fine detailed pen and ink marks. Mike strength was in his gift for detailed figurative drawing. Looking at Mike’s work today, we can see the fine detail in much of his “Broadwater to Brixton” period the spanned the late 70’s and early 80’s including a passionately innovative depiction the Brixton Riots. This particular work has found a prestigious place of rest in the Museum of London.
