Did you know that many homeless people exist on the food that households waste and yet there’s still enough left over to overflow our landfills? We throw away 7.2 million tonnes of food and drink from our homes every year, costing us £12bn – most of this could have been eaten, composted, or avoided. We have been brought up in a throw-away society yet it doesn’t have to be that way. SMart Network is all about solutions, so we’re partnering with Love Food Hate Waste, a great local initiative, to campaign for smarter remedies to our social problems.
In London Love Food Hate Waste is supporting a community lead initiative which hopes to continue for years across London. If you’d like to volunteer to help pass on the Love Food Hate Waste tips and advice to others, you can! You will receive full training and your local Volunteer Co-ordinator will be there on hand to offer support and advice along the way. Sign up to receive a full day’s free training and get on board with this great initiative.
