SMart has been recently chosen as a partner in an art competition for socially marginalised artists organized by Matrix, a barristers’ chambers dedicated to equal opportunity and supporting marginalised communities. The participants will not only have a chance to win cash prize, but also to be exhibited in Matrix Chambers in October.
Terms and conditions
The artwork should represent, encapsulate and highlight one of the following options.
Core Values (listed on Matrix website: matrixlaw.co.uk/Information/Organisation/Core Values.aspx): Matrix barristers and staff actively support and strive to achieve the ideals which have underpinned the organisation and the work we do right from the beginning. We’re looking for interesting artwork that represents these values.
Globalisation: Art that encapsulates your interpretation of the way in which society is becoming more and more internationally integrated.
Areas of law (listed on Matrix website: matrixlaw.co.uk/Information/Organisation/Core Values.aspx): Matrix barristers are specialists in a wide spectrum of law. We’d love to see artwork that highlights one of these types of law, in particular the international nature of the work we do.
Matrix is a modern, creative, innovative and forward-thinking barristers’ chambers. The art needs to represent this approach.
The piece should not contain any lewd or offensive images please.
The winner of this competition will receive a prize of £250 and have their work displayed at an exhibition held in October 2013 at Matrix in partnership with SMart. The artwork will be displayed from October through to December. 2nd and 3rd place will also have their art displayed during this time. After this time, all work will be returned to SMart.
The competition is open to all artists who would describe themselves as “socially marginalised.”
You may submit only one piece of art, either in black and white or colour. All forms of art are welcome, including photography. Maximum picture size is approx. 150cm x 120cm.
Unfortunately, Matrix is not in a position to cover costs or expenses incurred from taking part in this competition or producing the art piece.
Submissions should be made by 5pm on Saturday 21th September 2013.
Please post your entries to: Jaime Bautista, PO Box 64198, London, WC1A 9FL
